Fiscal Accountability.Responsible Commercial and Residential growth. Increased support for education. Making transportation and city infrastructure a top priority. Providing tax incentives for new business.Hello, my name is Joel Bryant. I have been married to my wife, Tonja, for twenty years and am the father of a daughter, 18, and a son, 14. My family and I moved to Brentwood almost ten years ago. After considering several locations nationwide, we felt that the Brentwood community was the ideal place for us to raise our kids, and someday, grandkids. I am proud to be endorsed by the Brentwood Police Officers Association and The United Professional Fire Fighters of Contra Costa County. It means more than I can say that those who know me best, have asked me to be their voice in matters affecting our community. In the process of running for City Council I have spoken to many of the business owners and families in our community, and have discovered a universal desire in the hearts of most of the people I have talked to. As a community, you want city leaders who listen. As a small business owner and Brentwood Police Chaplain, I work closely with our police officers and have a unique perspective on what matters to the community. As your representative, I will always listen to your concerns and stand up for your best interests. I will never support moving the Urban Limit Line to build 1,300 new homes, before assuring that the infrastructure of our community is able to adequately deal with the added burden of such growth. Things such as adequate police coverage, fire coverage, including having a qualified paramedic assigned to each response team in order to provide the level of life saving, emergency service that you, the resident deserve. In addition to these areas, I will fight to provide the highest level of financial support for our schools, in order to maintain the high quality of Brentwood's educational programs. It is my objective to enable the citizens of Brentwood to be polled anytime the city makes multimillion dollar expenditures using our tax dollars, on projects that will have a major impact on all of us as a community. I share the opinion with the majority of the individuals that I have spoken with who feel that the scope of the downtown civic center was more than what we wanted. I believe that our hard earned tax dollars could be better spent on increasing public safety, improving roads and supporting our schools needs rather than spending $55 Million dollars on a civic center that most of the community will never fully utilize. If elected, I will search out positive solutions to our economic challenges, keeping in mind what matters to you most by having regular community workshops in order for YOU to have your input and opinions heard BEFORE any permanent decisions are made or monies spent. Brentwood is an incredible community. If we pool our talent and resources, I know we can attract interesting new business, and market the great ones that make our city unique. I would be honored to earn the opportunity to plan Brentwood's future with you. Please call me anytime (925) 525-5925 or email me at JoelBryantforcitycouncil@yahoo.com Thank you, Joel Bryant |
