As a homeowner and family man, I am committed to this community. My family and I have lived in Pinole for more than 13 years. I have three school age children so the quality and safety of the local schools are important to me.

I have been in the architecture business for over 30 years. To be a good architect you need to do two things: listen well, and be a good problem solver, with an open mind to all solutions. These are the same basic things you need to be on the City Council.

I designed and saw built my first building when I was 20 years old. I learned from an early age that my chosen field was not only an art but also a business with a monetary value. My experience as a business person and architect has taught me how to solve problems on-time and within budget.

I thrive on solving problems. As a business person, I must make tough-minded decisions, but decisions that have the best interests of my clients in mind. As a returning Councilmember, I will continue reviewing the situations in Pinole with a sharpened pencil, yet with concern of the community in the same way.

As a member of the West Contra County Unified School District's Bond Oversight Committee, I am committed to making sure that the taxpayers in Pinole get full value for their money spent on the school system. I want our schools to be state +of +the art and energy efficient, attractive but practical, and safe without making the school prison-like in appearance.

I am committed to preserving Pinole's small town community character. Pinole has a rich history going back over 150 years, when the first local settler arrived. This tough, enterprising sprit is still seen in the residents and business owners today. I have represented the residents and the business owners in Pinole for the last year as one of your City Councilmembers and I want to continue serving. There is a lot of work to be done to maintain our community character and I believe I am charged with contiuong the work I have stared sine being on the Pinole City Council.

I am committed to striving to maintain Pinole as a safe community. We have incredibly professional and proactive Police and Fire services and as many residents in Pinole have at one time or another, have had to rely on the safety services. I want to do what I can to continue this while being accountable to the residents of Pinole to the costs of providing these services. The one thing you can say about the Police and Fire Departments in Pinole is when you call them, they come. Not every city can say that these days and the County definitely can't say that. I want to continue this.

I am committed to attracting new businesses to Pinole, to add to our choices of local businesses to frequent while complementing our existing businesses. Being a complete believer in the free enterprise system, I believe that a good number of choices of business to pick from makes all businesses better. Further, residents attracted by certain businesses and seeing other choices will tend to come back and try the other businesses they see another time. It is a win-win situation for everyone!

Balancing quality of life against scarce resources takes all of us at the table. It also takes an independent thinker + involving all points of view.

I ask for your vote to finish the work I have begun.

Thank you for your support,

Tim Banuelos
