Paradise Business Community

By April Grossberger

Candidate for Council Member; Town of Paradise

This information is provided by the candidate
It is important to foster a business friendly environment between Town Hall and the business community. Clearly the state of the economy is playing a role in the downtown vacancy rate. As a councilmember, I plan research and implement best practices incentive measures for recruiting new businesses to the ridge. I would encourage a special session between town staff, town council, and business owners to discuss what is working and what is not.

I have met with business owners who feel Town Hall is business friendly and some who do not. Business services need to be improved so that the process of establishing a new business is not unreasonably costly and tedious. I will work to streamline the process of opening a business and to eliminate unnecessary fees. My goal is to meet with individuals with unanswered questions and concerns to work together to resolve difficulties.

The upside of this economic downturn is that our leaders are streamlining at the local level. Cost saving practices that should have been in place years ago are now being implemented. I will work very hard to ensure that in the event of economic recovery we maintain our financially streamlined business model. I will continue to look for areas where we can be more fiscally responsible at Town Hall.
