Bringing jobs to ChicoBy Bob W. EvansCandidate for Council Member; City of Chico | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Chico has an unacceptable unemployment rate of 14.% That translates to over 12,000 men, women, and children who are hurting because they cannot find a job. With that many families out of work, job creation and job recruitment should be the council's top priority, yet it is not. The council's priorities are elsewhere. I know the benefits that good companies bring to a city and I promise that giving our unemployed an opportunity earn a paycheck again will be my top priority. Besides the benefits that jobs will give to our citizens we also need jobs for the city's financial health. Revenues are down and as a result city services are suffering. Both Police and Fire are staffed below standards, and yet further cuts are expected. Many of our roads are are deteriorating yet there is no money available to fix them. We must get serious about providing jobs if we want all our citizens to enjoy the benefits of this great community. We must get serious about attracting businesses if we what to have the type of government that our town deserves. |
