Position Papers
Work to dismantle the Schwarzenegger Delta Stewardship Council and fight his proposed Water Bond.
The Council can levy fees and make water allocation decisions without regard to existing water rights; needs of communities being served; and the true cost of the water. The Bond will destroy California's fragile financial structure.
Seek a legislative solution to the on-going problem holding back regionally-based water storage in the Valley.
For years, efforts to work with San Joaquin Valley interests have been frustrated by their inability to recognize the joint benefit of using their drained aquifer for water storage. Years of negotiations have been to no avail and a legislative solution seems to be the answer.
Work to further expand EBMUD's innovative Recycled Water and Water Conservation programs.
The existing clean water resource is almost tapped out and recycled water and smart water conservation programs are necessary to free up potable water for our basic needs.
