Michael Gregory was elected to the San Leandro City Council representing District 1 in 2006. His city assignments include disaster planning and city/school district liaison committees. Inter-governmental assignments include Alameda County Fire Commission, Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), Alameda County 2010 Active Transportation, and AC Transit BRT Policy Steering Committees. Michael is a native of Oakland, CA. He and his wife Dale, a cooperative preschool director, have been married for 31 years and have lived in San Leandro for 25 years. They have two children, Sean and Olivia. Prior to joining the City Council, Michael and his wife, spearheaded school improvement efforts including formation of a community education foundation, library and playing field renovations. Michael served on a city bicycle/pedestrian task force that updated the City's general plan and bicycle thoroughfares. Michael became an active participant in the San Leandro Downtown TOD planning process before election to the City Council. He is an advocate for active transportation and healthy cities. Michael currently works as a senior account manager for American Red Cross Blood Services Northern California Region. He is responsible for the region's revenue, managing contracts and all hospital relations. He attended University of California, Berkeley transferring to Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1976. He also did 2 years of postgraduate study at San Francisco State University. |
