League of Women Voters ForumI am Vice Mayor, and this is my sixth year on council. Gail and I are life-long Alamedan's. Our two children and five grandchildren all reside in Alameda. I support neighborhood schools. My daughter and daughter-in-law teach for the Alameda Unified School District. I have chaired various key city committees for 20 years. Served on the Economic Development Commission as a member and chairperson where the key focus was on retail/commercial economic development within the city. While employed at Alameda Naval Air Station for thirty-six years, I was responsible for operational budgets that exceeded $500 million and a workforce of over one thousand employees. I was then Chief Operating Officer and Business Consultant in private industry. Accomplishments to be proud of are a balanced City budget with reserves, renovation of: Park and Webster Streets, Bridgeside, Towne Centre, Alameda Theater, and development of the Harbor Bay Business Park. I support open and inclusive government. http://WWW.DougdeHaanAlameda.com |
