Candidate for
Treasurer-Tax Collector; County of Ventura

The Treasurer-Tax Collector will play an important role in representing Ventura County taxpayers during these challenging economic times.

Our Treasurer-Tax Collector must have a command of accounting and finance to provide proper oversight of the treasury and report to the Board of Supervisors. The office also requires operations and customer service experience to manage the production of accurate tax bills and interact with the public in the collection of taxes.

A strong code of ethics is necessary to provide transparency to the office and protect taxpayers from fraud and abuse. The next Treasurer-Tax Collector also must be able to implement new technologies and utilize emerging media to communicate with taxpayers.

I am running for this non-partisan office to represent taxpayers not a political agenda. My twenty year background in finance, accounting and as a successful local business owner makes me uniquely qualified for this office.

In my ten year career with national public accounting firms I managed teams of accountants tasked with organizing the sale of the troubled assets of the many Savings and Loans that failed in the early 1990's. I also gained experience in the accounting involved the issuance of complex financial securities and the valuation of businesses and commercial real estate.

More importantly I will bring the office the values of the small business owner: thrift, hard work and community involvement. I am proud to have been recognized for representing these values by being awarded the 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year by the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce. During the economic recovery, taxpayers need to be represented by people who have created jobs and made payrolls.
