Andy was born in Visalia and his father is the long time Tulare County Superintendent of schools, Jim Vidak. He is the oldest of five children and is the third generation of Vidak's to grow up in the Central Valley. He attended school in Visalia, graduating from Redwood High School in 1984 and graduating from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

After graduation, he returned to the Central Valley where he went to work for various Westside farms, coolers and produce sales companies. This exposure to a wide variety of agriculture products and processes has given Andy a deep and specialized understanding of the issues facing the agricultural industry in the Central Valley. Through hard work, Andy was able to buy his own farm and since 1997 has been active as a cherry grower in Hanford. He is also a partner in a lettuce cooling management group which operates in San Joaquin.

As a lifelong Central Valley resident and grower, Andy has developed a keen awareness and understanding of the water crisis that plagues California and the need to preserve agriculture within the state. To that end, he contributed time with local water advocacy groups including "Water for All," and "Families Protecting the Valley."

He is also a frequent speaker at "TEA Party" events speaking as a citizen advocate for water, national tax reform, fiscal responsibility and free markets.

Andy is the only Republican candidate who lives and works in the 20th Congressional District. Considering it is a district that stretches from Mendota to Bakersfield, it is imperative that the person representing the District actually knows about it.

The remainder of Andy's time is spent serving as an assistant coach with the College of Sequoias women's basketball team.
