WATERBy Richard Lake, CPACandidate for United States Representative; District 20; Republican Party | |

The number one way I can help bring more jobs back to the valley is to increase water to Westside farmers. I will be a voice in Washington that will fight with Devin Nunes to establish a permanent solution to our water needs. The current water bond measure does not give priority to the central valley and 70% goes to increasing bureaucracy.1.The pumps need to be turned back on immediately. With American ingenuity and a willingness to find an answer, there is a solution to the problem of fish being drawn into the pumps. Why should the needs of the delta smelt take precedence over 40,000 jobs that provide for families and helps improve our economy. 2.There is enough water in California, even in the worst drought year, to provide for everyone's needs. The need is for increased storage and a delivery system that will guarantee everyone the water they need. 3.We need the peripheral Canal as a permanent solution to the demands for water. As long as we do not build the canal, we are at the mercy and whim of politicians and extreme environmentalists who have no investment in our Central Valley. And who are willing to sacrifice our welfare to their ideology. The agricultural community has volunteered to fund the canal, at a savings to taxpayers. |
