Education should be accessible and affordable for all Californians. It is my highest priority because edcation is the foundation of innnovation and technology leadership that will move California forward in the future.California needs to increase, not decrease the per student spending; we are ranked 48th in the nation in per student spending and that is embarrassing. When I joined the Peace Corps I was teaching math to help a developing nation catch up in math and science; now it looks like we need the help. Community colleges are a necessary investment for our future; community colleges train our nurses, firefighters, technicians, and police, and they give struggling full time working people a chance to improve themselves. To be economically competitive in the 21st California must regain its status as the best education system in America, and support workforce skills at all levels of the economy. California's education systems must do the following to invest in our future:
