Full Biography for Justin Jelincic

|
I am a lifelong resident of the district, having lived in Hayward, San Lorenzo and now San Leandro. I have a happy marriage of 26 years, and two grown children. I grew up with a sense of duty to God and county. My dad modeled giving back to the community, and encouraged his sons to do the same. I am the 5th son of JJ "Josh" Jelincic. He was a teacher in the Hayward Unified School district, and served 16 years on the Eden Township hospital board. My mother was a RN and returned to work when my oldest brother reached college. She worked at Fairmont Hospital in San Leandro. Because of my mom's job, and my dad's public service, I grew up in a household that considered Health Care as more than just an insurance product. As a graduate from UC Berkeley's school of business, I have been in Finance and Accounting roles and understand the need for fiscal controls, and paying the bills. As a child from a large family, that lived on just my father's income, primarily as a teacher but supplemented with second jobs, I grew up with an understanding of sacrifice for family, as I watched my dad work two jobs to pay the bills and provide for his children and their future. I have worked for a series of employers including, small family owned business, and start up ventures. I have experience with the struggles of small business, and the need they have for a level playing field to have an honest chance to compete. I have worked the last ten years in Finance roles at Kaiser Permanente. Prior to this last year I have not taken an active role in community politics. I have instead been active in my church in various leadership roles. I am a member of Toastmaster's International and have competed in several speech contests. The polarized nature of Congress, highlighted by the effort to finalize ObamaCare, drove me to look at this run for Congress. I believe it is good for the democratic process to have contested primaries, to provide voters with choices at every level of the selection process. I hope you are glad to have a choice in the Democratic primary this year. |
