K-12 Education Reform
Education is the cornerstone to democracy. If we fail to educate our future citizens, then it is us who are failing as citizens. We do not want a third world like caste in America. If parents aren't doing their job, we as citizens must ensure the job gets done. In the end, we all pay the price for failing to educate a fellow citizen. In this global economy, America can not support an uneducated caste of American citizens. California must do its share.
Keeping State colleges and universities accessible and well funded
From the personal intellectual growth of the individual student to the growth of our civilization's body of knowledge, higher education has contributed to our society in so many ways and this should not be hindered in any way. We do not want eligible California residents in this global economy to forego a college education due to financial or administrative shortcomings. Advances in science and medicine at our research universities must also continue.
Cut administration, fraud and waste, not services
Tough economic times are an opportunity to take a look around and see how much money is being wasted and how things could be made more efficient. This applies to our home as well as our State. Our economy grew and so did our bureaucracy. Now that our economy has shrunk, our bureaucracy, and not our services, must follow suit.
