Political Philosophy for Ross D. Frankel
Candidate for |
I describe myself as a pragmatic, fiscally prudent, and political aisle-crossing Green. I have worked as a volunteer on many Republican, Democrat and "third party" campaigns. As your Controller, I look forward to working with Democrats and Republicans; however, I will work independently, objectively, and ethically from the two "Titanic" Political Machines. I am primarily focused upon a Legislative Proposal's estimated costs, ethics, intentions, legality, and side-effects. For example: Does the Proposal protect California's business, labor, environment, and general community? Or will it throw Californians out of work, promote shoddy business practices, endanger our neighborhoods or schools, or damage the environment? Are its costs acceptable, or are they excessive or unnecessary? That's essentially how I may weigh a Proposal's value. I won't vote simply to please some political machine. State government must strike balances between competing interests: business, community, environment, government, and labor. State government must also act to provide basic safety nets---such as reasonable health-care, emergency room coverage--for everyone. Without even such basic coverage, we would suffer epidemics of health crises. Thus, as Controller I will act to restore the quality of State governmental services to our citizens while maintaining careful, objective, and independent financial prudency. |
