Though you will be hard pressed to find anyone in Congress with the breadth and depth of experience and success to match, of utmost importance, family and duty represent a large part of why I feel compelled to run for Congress. Family: Married to Lisa since 1981. Education:
Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco (Endocrine Unit, Department of Medicine).
PhD in the biomedical sciences at the University of Kentucky
BS/BA Biology & Chemistry, Eastern Ky University Experience:
2001 - Present. Vice President, Mission Therapeutics (formerly ImmVaRx, Inc.); BioPharma start-up company focused on immunotherapeutics (international clinical trials for cancer treatment and therapeutics; allergy diagnostics and vaccine)
2003 - Present. Visiting Faculty (indefinite appointment), Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, University of California, Davis, CA; Clinical Professor, Volunteer Series, at the National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Center
2005 - Present. Instructor, Heald College (Roseville, CA) and Sierra College (Grass Valley, CA)
Military: 30 year career began on active duty as a Medical Platoon Leader in the 101st Airborne/Air Assault Division, 3/187th (Rakkasans) Infantry Battalion, then continued in Reserve units located in California, Texas, Kentucky and Wisconsin. Over 16 of those years were spent in key positions (e.g., Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Executive Officer for a hospital with over 400 members)...all of which represent an extraordinary amount of leadership assignments. Awards and Recognitions include:
Meritorious Service (2), Army Commendation (4) and Army Achievement Medals.
