Political Philosophy for Dave Grosch
Candidate for |

I am a fiscal conservative. I will use my financial background to insure our taxpayer dollars are spent effectively. I will use my appreciation for the "City in the Country" to insure Poway has responsible growth that enhances the quality of life for all residents in Poway. Fiscal Reponsibility: Our city salary/benefit package exceeds the private industry standard. Common sense tells me this is not sustainable and we need to tackle this tough issue right now. Ethical Decison Making: I recognize the many decisions by the council will have a negative and/or a positive impact on our Poway citizens. When I sit on the council I will do my best to weigh all decisions. I will get all of the facts , listen to all alternatives, make a decision, and will evaluate the outcome of that decision. Water Conservation: First of all, I'm wondering why we have a 5 tier rate structure. Leave it to government to come up with a system that is complicated and hard to explain. What I do know, our water usage went down in the city because our citizens stepped up to conserve. But I fear the worst is not over. We will be asked to conserve more water. I believe for those who insist on using an inordinate amount of water for decorative landscaping use, they will have to pay a higher rate. WAl-Mart Expasnion: It's no secret that I'm one of the founding members of the NO WE (NO Walmart Expansion)group. At present we have about 800 active members. I got involved for many reasons. Responsible growth is one of those. It's time that our City Leaders start thinking what Poway should look like 20 years from now. And I don't believe there are many of us envisioning a Supercenter, bigger than Costco, sitting in the middle of Poway. |
