Jill Galvez is a wife, mother, business leader, and community volunteer, who has enjoyed living in Chula Vista since 1992. Jill has worked hard to enjoy a strong career in business, demonstrating success in sales, sales management, operations management, and human resources management at IBM, AT&T, Johnson & Johnson (McNeil Pharmaceuticals) and InterVU (a division of Akamai). Since 2004, Jill has worked as the Vice President of Sales and Operations for FastBlue Communications, managing voice and data network communications for over 250 business customers in Southern California. Jill lives in Chula Vista with her husband of 18 years, Victor Galvez, a graduate of Hilltop High School and Vice President of Investments at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Jill and Victor have two children, one at Hilltop High and one at Hilltop Middle School. Jill is the head coach of Hilltop's award-winning Science Olympiad team. At the prompting of her children's teachers at Rosebank Elementary and many parents and business leaders in the community, Jill ran for the Chula Vista Elementary School District Board of Education in 2002 and again in 2004. Since then, Jill stayed active in politics and as a volunteer in the community. She has continually strived to enhance the quality of life in Chula Vista. Jill Galvez has been on the planning committee for Chula Vista Historic Home Tours, she is a trustee of the Chula Vista Heritage Museum Board, and as a museum volunteer has given 10,000 years of Chula Vista History presentations for several years at local Chula Vista elementary schools with Dr. Peter Watry. She is looking forward to her service on the Chula Vista Committee of 100 to celebrate Chula Vista's Centennial in 2011. Jill has served on the Chula Vista Downtown Business Association Design Review Committee, the board of San Diego Junior Theatre, and currently serves on the Old Globe Education Committee. She was also a Girl Scout co-leader. Jill supports Crossroads II by providing desktop publishing for quarterly newsletters. In 2007, Jill was appointed by Congressman Bob Filner to be a Delegate to the California State Convention and has represented Chula Vista for the past three years in Sacramento, San Jose, and San Diego. Jill has been a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, she earned a "mini-MBA" from IBM Sales University, and she has been certified by the Malcom Baldridge National Quality Program for performance excellence. Jill was honored by the Daughters of the American Revolution as the Good Citizen of Macomb County, Michigan, in 1984. Jill and her family are members of St. Rosa of Lima Church in Chula Vista. Jill has a degree in Engineering Arts/Telecommunications and Computer Science from Michigan State University, with masters credits in Labor and Industrial Relations.
