Statement of CHUCK REED, Candidate for
Mayor, City of San Jose

Occupation: San Jose Mayor                Age: 61
Education and Qualifications:
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Mayor. I ran for office on a platform of honesty, fiscal responsibility and open government. In my first term, the City has adopted more than 90 ethical, fiscal, and open government reforms - more than 30 Reed Reforms, more than 40 sunshine reforms, and more than a dozen reforms from the Mayor's Biennial Ethics Review - and we now have a city government we can all be proud of.
Yet there is much more to be done to make San Jose a great city: Spur economic development to provide jobs for our residents and revenues for vital services and to keep San Jose the Capital of Silicon Valley; Keep San Jose one of the safest big cities in America; Restore services to our neighborhoods; Get control over the runaway costs of public employee benefits; Work with our schools to improve the quality of public education; and implement our Green Vision to help create 25,000 clean tech jobs and become the world's center of clean tech innovation.
I am asking for your support to allow me to continue the work I have started. Please vote to reelect me, Chuck Reed, as your Mayor.
