Lou Calcagno has a proven record of supporting law enforcement and public safety agencies.Supervisor Calcagno has a record of working closely with law enforcement officials and community leaders to make our streets and neighborhoods safe. Lou co-founded the Monterey County/City of Salinas Joint Gang Task Force, which has brought millions of federal dollars into Monterey County, to suppress gang activity. He worked closely with the Sheriff's Department and local business leaders to open a Community Field Office in North County staffed by a fulltime deputy and crime prevention specialist. Supervisor Calcagno supported the Sheriff in creating the Ag-Theft Task Force and brought the FBI to Monterey County to target known gang leaders. Over the years, Lou has worked with many intervention programs for at-risk youth such as the Probation Department's Silver Star Program and Rancho Cielo, to which he donates a portion of each paycheck he receives from the County. |
