This information is provided by the candidate
- I have lived in Antioch since 1988.
- I have been a member of the Contra Costa Democratic Central Committee (DPCCC) since 2006 and am currently seeking my third two-year term.
During my past four years, I served on the DPCCC Executive Committee, as Treasurer (2006-2008) and Co-Chairman of the Issues Committee (2008- Present).
- In April 2006, I founded and became President of the East County Democrats for Action (ECDFA). Under my leadership:
The ECDFA has campaigned actively to help elect Democratic candidates throughout East County and Brentwood.
The ECDFA has implemented massive voter registration and increased voter turnout programs.
The ECDFA has established strong ties with diverse ethnic communities (African American, Latino, Filipino, Labor, etc.) that comprise Antioch, Pittsburg, and Oakley. The ECDFA's Executive Committee consists of officers from such other major organizations as the NAACP and LULAC (League of Latin American Citizens).
The ECDFA has, as a public service, conducted numerous Candidate Forums and Debates to help provide voters with more information to make a more informed decision.
- In 2005, I founded a MoveOn.org team "The Campaigners".
Within a year, I built its membership from seven to nearly 150 and it became the largest MoveOn.org team in the United States.
That Fall, the team actively campaigned in Governor Schwarzenegger's Special Election to defeat all of his propositions.
- In October, 2004, I went to Ohio at my own expense and campaigned for Presidential candidate John Kerry.
I served as Co-Chairman of the Lorain County Democratic Voter Protection Program.
As Lorain county encompasses Oberlin College, I successfully implemented safeguards that prevented Republicans from trying to disqualify otherwise eligible Democratic voters, (students and otherwise) at the polling places in over 120 precincts.
Because of my program, Lorain County was one of the only 88 Ohio Counties that was not victimized by GOP voter fraud and it help generate 17,000 more votes for Kerry than were cast in 2000, for Al Gore.
Personal Information: I have been married for nearly forty years and have a grown daughter. I am currently retired but serve as a part time substitute teacher for both the Antioch Unified and Liberty Union High School District.
Previously, I had three major careers:
From 1972- 1982, I was a litigation attorney in both San Diego,California and New York City.
From 1982-1992, I was a member of the Pacific Stock Exchange and traded as a market maker on the Options floor.
From 1993 -2002, I worked in the Computer industry as both a network administrator and technical writer. I also taught computer networking at the Computer Learning Center in San Francisco.
