Assessor; County of Contra Costa

As your County Assessor, my office has provided you with excellent service for more than fifteen years and will continue to do so. I have lowered almost 150,000 tax assessments to accurately reflect current home values ─ over objections from bureaucrats and career politicians. I exposed companies who charge homeowners a fee for a property reevaluation ─ a service my office provides free to all County residents. I called for the County to halt its billion-dollar business with large bank corporations that refuse loan modifications for homeowners.

As the County Assessor, I am responsive to the public service needs of taxpayers. I have expanded office hours, provided educational seminars to homeowners, schools, service groups, small businesses, and offered taxpayer assistance to senior citizens.

I bring 36 years of conscientious and dedicated service to the residents of Contra Costa County, leading the Assessor's Office with honesty and integrity while enhancing technology to improve operational efficiencies and raising performance standards.

I am proud of a recent evaluation by the State of California giving the Assessor's Office a near perfect record for accurate property valuations.
