Nadia Lockyer is running for Alameda County Supervisor in District 2 to represent Hayward, Union City, Newark and northern Fremont. Nadia is a County executive and will bring a new and active voice to the Board of Supervisors. As Alameda County Supervisor, she will help bring more resources to District 2 and ensure they are invested in programs that work and in areas that need help.

Nadia is an Attorney in the Alameda County District Attorneys Office and the Executive Director of the Alameda County Family Justice Center (ACFJC). Since 2007, Nadia has led the ACFJC in helping children, young people, the elderly and families throughout the county cut through red tape to get the help they need. She works with multiple public, non-profit, and government agencies to provide easily accessible, coordinated, and culturally sensitive services to victims of domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse and sexual assault and exploitation. Her program has been recognized as a national model of best practices in public-private partnership resulting in comprehensive service delivery to County residents in an efficient and effective manner.

A 39-year-old mother, former adult caregiver, and the youngest of seven children, Nadia knows first-hand that ensuring healthy families is critical to ensuring healthy communities. Throughout her career, Nadia has focused her efforts on helping children and families. Prior to moving to the East Bay, Nadia was elected to the Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Trustees in 1998, one of the largest, densest school districts in the state with over 60,000 students. As Board President, Nadia led efforts to increase college attendance rates, reduce teen pregnancy rates, build new schools, and improve collaboration with city, county, and state elected officials.

Nadia received her Bachelors Degree from UCLA in 1993 and her J.D. from Loyola Law School. She has been a member of the California State Bar since 1997 and has spent much of her legal career devoted to pro-bono work.

Nadia has received numerous awards and recognition for her work on behalf of children and families. She received the State Democratic Party's John F. Kennedy Jr. Public Service Award, the Human Relations Commission's Public Service Award, the Women's Suffrage Day Award, the League of United Latin American Citizens Hispanic (LULAC) Woman of the Year Award, and the LULAC 2009 Champion against Domestic Violence Award.

Nadia lives in Hayward with her husband, State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, and their 6-year-old son, Diego.
