Why Choose Denny

By Denny E Lebo

Candidate for State Representative; District 199; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
Summarizes the reasons why Denny is the best choice for the 199th State House seat.
Republican voters of the 199th District of the Pennsylvania General Assembly have a wide choice of candidates to choose from this year. What should be considered in choosing which candidate will receive your vote?

Issues.

  • Everyone running claims the conservative label. Are you looking for someone who "knows the ropes" involved in spending tax money or someone who treats the taxpayers' money as carefully as he would his own personal money?
  • Everyone running says they want to lower taxes. Do any of the candidates have a public record of voting against tax increases?
  • Everyone says they want to decrease the size of government. Is there a candidate who has ever actually taken steps to do that in the past?

Denny Lebo has been involved in politics and local government in various ways during the past 30 years. As a member of Carlisle Borough Council in 1996-97, he was the lone vote against raising taxes both of those years. As Cumberland County's Clerk of Court, he has consistently and successfully worked to increase the productivity of the office while holding down costs. Over the past 12 years as Clerk of Court, Denny has overseen a 62% increase in work load with only a 10% increase in manpower.

Experience

  • What kind of private sector experience does each candidate have? Do any of the candidates who want to be involved in running the state have any experience in running a business?
  • What kind of public sector experience does each candidate have? Is their experience the kind that has given them a broad knowledge of how the proper role of government is carried out? Does any candidate show sufficient knowledge of the political process to be ready to "take off running" in Harrisburg if elected?

Denny Lebo owned his own business for 20 years before being elected Clerk of Court in 1997. During those years, he also served as a local Republican committeeman, a Republican State committeeman, an elected member of Carlisle Borough Council, and an appointed member of the Carlisle Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board, where he always looked out for the rights of the individual. As stated previously, during his time as Clerk of Court, he has modernized the office in ways that have improved the efficiency of the office in serving the court and the citizens.

Service

  • Does the candidate plan to serve the district full-time? While some may believe that serving in the legislature should be a part-time position, the fact is that the job presently is a full-time position. If the taxpayers are paying a fulltime salary with very generous benefits, shouldn't they have the right to expect the full vocational attention of their elected representative?
  • Every candidate says he wants to serve the people. Has any candidate stated any concrete ways in which he would actually demonstrate that?

Denny Lebo intends to be a fulltime legislator, offering good and prompt service to the citizens of the 199th District, while working to get our state government under control. In the past, he has returned pay raises that he considered to be inappropriate. For the future, he has pledged to opt out of the state pension system, to refrain from leasing cars at the taxpayers' expense, and to refuse to ask for mileage reimbursement for intra-district travel or the commute to Harrisburg.

Don't you agree that Denny Lebo is the best choice to represent you in Harrisburg?
