Full Biography for Robert Zirgulis

|
My name is Robert "Mr. Z" Zirgulis. I get my middle name, Mr. Z, from the kids I teach in the Culver City Unified School District. I have been an idealist activist since I was 8 years old campaigning for John F. Kennedy in the 1960 presidential election. I was an early environmental activist and formed the first high school chapter of ZPG in the country in 1969. I have been active in supporting the preservation of the Santa Monica mountains. I worked as an intern for Assemblywoman March Fong Eu's environmental commitee in Sacramento and wrote reports on pesticides in the urban environment. I was also an intern for the Metropolitan Washington Coalition for Clean air and investigated the EPA regarding air pollution in the inner city. I have travelled around the world three times and have done extensive work for international human rights groups. Locally I have been involved with trying to raise royalty rates on environmentally safe oil drilling heavily regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency, Calif. Air Resources Board and the S.C. Air Quality management District. My most visual issue is my campaign against the red light camera ticket ripoffs that fleece drivers, are unsafe, and only bring most of the money to the red light camera companies. I have a Masters Degree in Business Science,CSUN and a Bachelor of Arts in Publice Service, UCLA. I have lived in Culver City since 1984. I raised three boys by myself and they attended all the Culver City Schools K-12. |
