I would promote a team approach whereby all district employees: administrators, teachers, support staff and even students would identify and help reduce wasteful spending so that resources could be directed to important programs they would want to see continue.Act 1 is having a tremendous impact on school district finances and creating a challenge for all Pennsylvania school districts. The school district is like any other business in the community and is faced with rising costs, inflation and other indicators of the current depressed economy. Since I am a former principal who worked in the Colonial School District for 11 years, I know that a great deal can be done to ensure that precious taxpayer funds are being spent wisely. I would promote a team approach whereby all district employees: administrators, teachers, support staff and even students would identify and help reduce wasteful spending so that resources could be directed to important programs they would want to see continue. We must hold the administration accountable to scrutinize every expenditure to ensure that it directly contributes to providing a quality education experience of which the community can be proud. |
