There is no such thing as "nothing big" in an off year electionBARRY PAPIERNIK Candidate for Supervisor - Push Button D-29 on Election Day Dear East Norriton Resident:
As a candidate for supervisor in East Norriton I have spent the past 9 months knocking on doors, talking to residents and seeking community support for my campaign. Recently a resident told me: "I never vote in off year elections. It's a waste of time. There is nothing big on the ballot".
It wasn't the first time I had heard that remark. Unfortunately, many people feel that way. Here is what I ask people who make such a comment: 1) Have you ever complained about lenient judges who hand out soft sentences to habitual criminals who get out of prison early and continue their life of crime? This is the election where you select seven new judges who will serve right here in Montgomery County. 2) Have you ever said "My real estate taxes are too high?" Here is your chance to vote in four new school directors to the Norristown Area School Board who might share your concern about taxes. 3) And as a resident of East Norriton Township are you concerned with the over development in our township, the aging infrastructure, traffic, taxes and the potential loss of the Norristown Farm park? I know I am.
Thank you, |
