Candidate for
School Director; Wissahickon School District

I am employed as an attorney at Wisler Pearlstine, LLP in Blue Bell and primarily practice in the areas of real estate, business and municipal law. I also am certified to teach social studies in grades 7-12.

I previously served on the Wissahickon School Board from 1999 through 2003 and have two children attending Wissahickon High School. I have a comprehensive understanding of district operations and legal training and experience with federal and state laws impacting public schools.

During my board tenure, I served as chairman of the curriculum, technology and policy committees and as a member of the finance committee. Four accomplishments of mine were:

• Reinstituting the Policy Committee as a standing committee and firmly establishing the board's role as policymaker for all district operations;

• Promoting the integration of Pennsylvania academic standards for all subject areas into the K-12 curriculum, and participating in both the formulation and adoption of revised high school graduation requirements;

• Stressing the need to align assessment practices with the taught curriculum and supporting the adoption of high school departmental exams; and

• Holding top administrators accountable for increasing performance and efficiency throughout the district and encouraging greater use of student performance data to evaluate the success of educational courses and programs.
