Candidate for
Tax Collector; Borough of Folcroft

My name is Susan Billie-Ropski. I have been a resident of the Borough of Folcroft for a little over 40 years. I am a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School class of 82. I attended Delaware County Community College transferring to Widener where I was recruited by the Army. In 1985 I completed basic training at Fort Dix New Jersey I served stateside as a unit clerk at the end of my term I transferred over to Nuemann College to major in Business, and am currently attending Delaware County Community.

My husband Stephen and I reside on Woodland Avenue and have two children Sara who is 11 and Stephen Jr. who is 8. In November of 2000 my husband and I refurbished the house we presently live in that was condemned by the borough and a major eye sore to the street. We have nurtured and brought a once desolate part of Woodland Avenue back to life and made it the corner stone of our family, while preserving a part of Folcroft history in the process.

As a member of the Folcroft Fire Company and the grant committee I wrote and coordinated in 2005 and 2007 two Firefighter Assistance grants through Home Land Security totaling over $300,000. In being awarded the grants the Fire Company not only saved the Tax payers of Folcroft tax dollars, but we were able to update personal protection gear for approximately 20 fire fighters, 19 New air pack's with reserves for the Rescue, an exhaust system for the truck room so the fumes would not be released into the building and a back up generator, that would become back up energy to open the doors of the truck room in the need of an emergency, also because of the generator the fire house can and will be utilized as a shelter/safe haven for our residents.

I am an active member of Saint George's Parish in Glenolden, as a Sunday "Leader of Song", and the Youth Ministry Program, working with our youth in our annual Musical production, and various community service projects that we perform through out the year.

I am employed as a AP Coordinator/Project Accountant at L.F.Driscoll Company a construction management firm in Bala Cynwyd.. I over see all the payments being sent out to our subcontractors working at our various job locations and supply vendors. I also maintain the owner payments for work that is billed to our customers.

I believe in being active in my community and my children's lives to be an important part of who I am.
