The position of Delaware County Sheriff is one that I have held with pride and honor over the past five years. I have worked to make the Sheriff's Office more responsive to the needs of local residents while also cutting costs in various programs to maintain a balanced budget. The goal: to keep county taxes low for the citizens Delaware Counties. I established a "Dead Beat Dad" warrant sweep to collect unpaid child support and oversee drug education programs through DARE in our local schools. In order to ensure we are prepared on the county level to respond to domestic terrorism and other threats to the safety of residents, I attended and graduated from the Homeland Security Executive Leadership Program at the Naval Post Graduate College. I also wanted to reach out to you to provide you with some personal background, as I recognize these personal characteristics can be important to many voters when selecting the best candidate for local office. A resident of Lower Chichester, I am married and have two wonderful children. I am an active member of Holy Saviour Catholic Church in Linwood where I serve as the Chairman of the parish's Finance Committee and hold to my Catholic faith in my daily activities. I also serve on the board of the Delaware County Community Action Agency, which serves our senior citizens and the disadvantaged population of Delaware County. I served as a member of our armed forces in the United States Army and am a veteran of the Vietnam War. For my service, I was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. My education includes an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Delaware County Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University and a Master of Education from Cheyney University. I worked for a number of years as an Associate Professor at Delaware County Community College. As a private citizen, I have also helped to raise more than $50,000 in scholarships for local schools through the Sheriff's Run for Scholarship with over half going to the Holy Saviour + St. John Fisher School & Delaware County Community College. I am proud of the community we live in and work every day to make our county a better and safer place to live and raise a family. I hope that I can count on your support in the Republican primary on May 19 so that I can continue to work with local residents to improve Delaware County. |
