Candidate for
Council Member; Borough of Swarthmore

David is Senior Counsel in the Litigation Department of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP, Philadelphia, where for many years he has represented plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial, class action and transnational litigation, and in advanced technology and intellectual property disputes.

David has served as chair of his firm's Information Technology and Intellectual Property practice groups and as chair of the firm's Practice Management, Professional Responsibility and Technology Committees. He is the former Personnel and Hiring Partner, vice chair of the firm's Litigation Department, and secretary of the firm and its Management Committee.

David is an elected Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an honorary association of distinguished lawyers skilled and experienced in the trial of cases and dedicated to the improvement and enhancement of the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the profession. He is also listed in Who's Who and Who's Who in American Law.

Before joining Montgomery, McCracken, David and his wife Barbara were Peace Corps Volunteers in Nigeria, West Africa. He served as an assistant lecturer in the law faculty of the University of Lagos, Nigeria, from 1962 to 1964. Later, he served in the Office of Peace Corps General Counsel, Washington, D.C., from 1967 to 1969.

David served for 12 years as a director of the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. He served four terms as school board president and six years as chair of the board's personnel committee. He later served as a member and president of the Wallingford-Swarthmore School Authority. He currently serves on the Swarthmore Planning Commission and as Swarthmore's representative to the Central Delaware County Authority.

David and Barbara's two children, Jonathan and Amy, attended our local schools K-12. While in high school and college, both were members of the Swarthmore volunteer fire company.

David is a 19 handicap golfer (Rolling Green) and a so-so SRA bocce player (Torregrossa's front yard).

David is a member of Swarthmore Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker).
