I retired from public education this past June. I was involved in public education in Pennsylvania for almost thirty (38) years. I taught math in Tyrone Area School district for twenty-one (21) years, then I was Principal the Glendale Jr/Sr High School for four years. In 1996 I moved from Altoona and came to Chartiers Valley High School as the Assistant Principal in the High School and in 1999 I became the High School Principal. While I was Principal at the high school I had a serious motorcycle accident and due to health issues I asked the school board to permit me to return to the classroom in 2002. I then taught mathematics at Chartiers Valley High School until this past spring when I retired. I was blessed to have great students, great parents, and a lot of support from everyone associated with Chartiers Valley School district from the School Board members, Administrators, other teachers, secretaries, and other support staff. I am also retired from the United States Army Reserves. I served twenty-eight (28) years in the Army Reserves and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. I served in various Command and Staff positions to include: Battalion Commander for the 458th Engineer Battalion with Headquarters in Johnstown; Company Commander for D Company, 458th En Bn located in Pittsburgh; Supply Officer (S-4) and Maintenance Officer for both the 308th En Group and the 458th En Bn.; I was also the Training Officer for the 308th En Gp; lastly I served two different times at the 99th RSC located at Oakdale PA once as a Supply Officer and as the Mobilization Officer. I am an Indiana University of Pennsylvania graduate (1971) and I also received my Principal's Certification from IUP in 1992. As the Principal and Teacher at Chartiers Valley I believe I have a reputation with these qualities:
1. Honest Lastly, one of my sayings regarding education is; "I never got paid to teach. I got paid to have students learn and remember."
