Allegheny County, PA | November 3, 2009 Election |
Letter to ConstituentsBy Amy E. Sable, Esq.Candidate for Member, Council; Borough of Franklin Park; Ward 3 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
May 15, 2009 Dear Franklin Park Neighbor, As you may be aware, in December 2007 I was unanimously appointed by the members of the Franklin Park Borough Council to fill a vacancy on the Council. My term expires at the end of this year, but I would like the opportunity to continue to serve the community as a member of Borough Council thereafter. As such, I am asking for your vote in the May 19, 2009 Primary Election. By way of background, I have resided in Franklin Park for over six years with my husband and two young children. I am a graduate of both Lafayette College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and I am a practicing attorney, working in-house for a local company. I recently served on the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and I have been active in Borough affairs for the past four years, having served on the Franklin Park Planning Commission for almost two years prior to my appointment to Borough Council. I have also served on the Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee, a Borough steering committee created for the purposes of reviewing the Borough's zoning and land use ordinances and making recommendations for updates and revisions to those ordinances. During my tenure on Borough Council, my knowledge of the law has proven to be an extremely valuable asset. The vast majority of issues that come before Borough Council are rooted in the law and require the skillful analysis, interpretation and application of the laws and ordinances that govern our Borough. As such, it is my belief that my legal background combined with my interest and participation in Borough affairs and my experience in business make me exremely well-qualified to serve on Borough Council. As a Borough Council member, it has always been my goal to do what is in the best interests of the community. My record demonstrates a commitment to fiscal responsibility, to environmental stewardship, and to improving the quality of life within the Borough. In that regard, I have supported measures to improve the Borough's golf and recreation facilities and programs. Additionally, I have worked with other Council members to pass balanced budgets without increasing Borough taxes, cutting Borough services or taking on increased debt. Finally, I have advocated for updated zoning and land use ordinances which will require future developments in the Borough to be more compatible with existing developments and which will encourage preservation of environmental resources. If elected, I will continue to serve the citizens of Franklin Park with honesty, integrity and dedication. Please cast your ballot for me, Amy Sable, on Primary Election Day - - Tuesday, May 19, 2009.
Sincerely,
Amy E. Sable
