Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Lori Voegtly Mizgorski

Candidate for
Commissioner; Township of Shaler; Ward 2

This information is provided by the candidate

As a lifelong resident of Shaler, I understand the qualities that make our Township a great place to live. I want my children to grow up in the same community where my husband and I grew up. As your representative on the Board of Commissioners, I want to maintain the positive aspects of Shaler while providing a new perspective to the management of the Township.

I am committed to maintaining quality public safety and emergency services to all residents of the Township. I will support cost-effective management practices that continue to provide for the maintainance of roads, water/sewage systems and our neighborhood parks.

I am greatly interested in revitalizing the Bauerstown neighborhood. Although it may take many years, I envision Bauerstown as a walking neighborhood with a restaurant, shops and beautiful homes. I will support efforts to acquire grant funding for facade renovations to homes, in addition to seeking funding to repair sidewalks and add trees and street lighting. I will also support plans for new construction, only if it is in keeping with the historical integrity of the neighborhood.

I support the protection of the Pine Creek watershed, and I will advocate increasing recycling programs in Shaler in order to reduce waste management costs and protect the environment.

I support property tax rebates for Senior Citizens, and I am committed to keeping our Shaler Township Tax down. (Shaler Area School Board taxes and Allegheny County taxes are not under the control of the Shaler Township Board of Commissioners.)

I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3, 2009. I look forward to serving you on the Shaler Township Board of Commissioners.
