Commissioner; Township of Robinson

This information is provided by the candidate

My wife Dianne and I have been residents of Robinson Township for 44 years.

We are members of Saint Malachy Catholic Church. I attended California State College for 2 yrs.

I have over 45 years of experience in business and engineering. I began my career in 1963 as an Electrical Draftsman and held positions with Swindell Dressler, United States Steel and Kaiser Engineers. Between 1969 and 2009 I was with the same core group that started as Dravo and then went through the following ownerships: McNally Wellman, Svedala and Metso Minerals. In my almost 40 years with that organization I held following positions: Senior Electrical Designer, Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer, Senior Field Engineer, Contract Manager France and Senior Electrical Buyer, Estimator, Engineer, I also served on the Corporate Purchasing Council. I am currently retired, but may do some consulting in the future.

In 1993 the Montour School Board decided to turn off 4 floodlights used for night time jogging around the Montour High Track because they thought it would save money. The lights soon went back on when I pointed out to the school board they were being billed on demand because the field was separately metered. The school board took my suggestion to connect the Stadium feed to the High School service feed which has resulted in an estimated energy saving of $165,000 to date. I would be happy to show anyone who wishes my communications with Duquesne Light regarding this savings.

After the Hurricane Ivan Flood a 16" Gas Transmission line serving 4000 homes in the area was unearthed in Montour Creek. Nothing was being done about this dangerous situation until I requested that the Townships of Moon, Robinson and State Rep. Mustio contact Columbia Gas to express their concerns. It took a long time to start the corrective work because of permitting, but finally the old line has been removed from the creek and a new line has been installed out of harm's way.

I have been a volunteer for the Montour Trail since 1998 and served on the board of directors for 6 years, was the race director for the IKEA/Montour Trail ½ Marathon and 5K Run and Walk for 5 yrs and serve as the Director of Security.
