Responsible Fiscal Management

By Linda Bishop

Candidate for School Director; North Allegheny School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Taxes Are Down!
Through Zero Based Budgeting, we have been able to reduce property taxes each of the past two years, moving the District from 8th lowest to 5th lowest millage rate in Allegheny County. The preliminary budget for 2009-10 is balanced with no millage increase. We have aggressively pursued grants resulting in $3 million per year for advanced technology, curricular improvements and Special Education funding. I will continue to focus on strong fiscal controls and pursuit of grant funding. As the Board's liaison to the PA School Boards Association, I will also continue to focus on legislative advocacy to reduce unfunded and underfunded mandates.
