Since moving to Madeira in 1988 Mike has been active in the community in a variety of ways: coaching soccer and basketball, Backyard Builders for Madeira City Schools, Madeira High School Athletics, and Elder and Trustee for Madeira-Silverwood Presbyterian Church. He is Chairman of Madeira's Recreation and Parks Board and has been Chairman for 6 of the 11 years he has served on the board. While on "Parks and Rec," Mike has been instrumental in the addition of lights at McDonald Commons, the new turf at the High School and its shared use by Madeira residents, construction of the new Veterans' Memorial, refurbishment of the tennis courts, and planning events like the Memorial Day ceremony, Independence Day parade and fireworks, and the street dance. He is an avid cyclist and a regular user of the facilities he has helped build and maintain. Mike has degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering (BSCE) from the University of Cincinnati and Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Pittsburgh. For the past 20 years he has worked for Hixson Architecture Engineering and Interiors where he is a stockholder and Director of Client Development in the Food Industry Business Unit. Mike and his wife Beth have been married 31 years and have three children. All have attended Madeira City Schools. Two have graduated and moved on to college, and the youngest is a freshman at the High School. |
