Political Philosophy for Debbie Grueninger

One of my greatest joys and concerns is Glendale's National Historic Landmark designation awarded to Glendale because of its well preserved pre-Civil War buildings, curvilinear street design and large open green spaces. This is the highest honor a historic site can receive from the U.S. Government and only 2,310 of the 80,000 historic sites around the country have been named NHL. We join such prestigious historical sites as the Alamo, Capital Building, Monticello and Williamsburg, Va. We are currently on "watch" and need to continue our deligent work to update our Comprehensive Long Range Plan (which has not been updated since 1944), and create ways to curb over-development and loss of green space. I am also concerned about the increased traffic and pollution that accompanies this traffic. We need to find reasonable solutions that will protect the quality of life in the Village. Another area is continuing to replace and repair our infrastucture. We need to find timely solution to respond to flooding and the accompanying problems to homeowners. We have developed a ten year plan and I want to continue to serve the residents to ensure this plan stays on target. We also need to find viable methods to ensure that the limited valuable resources of the Village are used wisely and efficiently so we can continue to offer quality services to the residents. |
