Political Philosophy for Ceair J. Baggett
Candidate for |
One of the most profound thinkers on education today, Howard Gardner, has said that every child is capable of learning and that a student's success depends on their understanding of how they learn best. I agree with his assessment that to understand a child's effort, motivation, and strengths is to unlock the key to success in education. As a businessman, an educator, and aspiring Board of Education member I believe one should incorporate various teaching methods into the classroom in order to capitalize on each individual student's strengths. My own learning experience proves that utilization of a broad array of assessment tools is the best barometer of their success. I believe that by having faith and higher expectations of the individual student we can anticipate more significant educational achievement. The lessons I have learned are simple---that anyone who applies themselves, maintains discipline and honestly strives to succeed will do so. Such success, guided by skilled teachers, is essential for a lifetime of quality living and responsible citizenship. |
