1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

Answer from Vince Weseli:
I bring the energy and focus to be a strong and active member of council, in the same way that I have approached other roles and responsibilities both in my business career and as a volunteer to organizations in the community. I bring a 20-year record of consensus-building leadership in business and a 10+ year record of volunteerism to Greenhills community organizations. In each instance, I've worked improve the organizations I've engaged, working closely with others who share a common vision for success.
Answer from Jeffrey Halter:
My wife, two daughters and I have resided in Greenhills for the past 16 yrs. I have been a small business owner for 9 years. I also have worked for two different Fortune 500 companies and hold 8 US patents. I have a record of solving problems and generating ideas.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Answer from Jeffrey Halter:
I plan on fostering communication and collaboration amongst disparate groups. For the purpose of revealing the common goals and objectives that benefit us all in Greenhills. Do my part to insure that Village business is conducted according to all appropriate laws and processes. Encourage and address all applicable citizen concerns in a respectful and honorable manner.
Answer from Vince Weseli:
I am seeking to balance the efforts in the development of the shopping center, with an understanding of the plan to fund this effort, responsibly, with an eye toward fiscal sensibility, and a goal to return any investment we make back to the tax payer, quickly. Second, I'm a strong advocate of the concepts of e-governing, introducing best practices in governing using technology to extend the reach and participation further into the community. Finally, I'll support the prioritization of initiatives coming out of the Comprehensive Plan, identifying the optimal return on investment for the dozens of opportunities the plan identifies.

3. What two actions would you promote to enhance city revenue or decrease city expenditures in order to balance the city budget, given the current economic conditions? (100 word limit)

1/ Foster a pro business atmosphere for dual platform businesses (businesses that have a local retail component and a retail internet presence). 2/ Offer creative solutions that decrease village expenditures while maintaining what is vital to community success.
Answer from Vince Weseli:
First, act on the recommendation in the village Comprehensive Plan to extend the park paths into the Village. This will draw hundreds of park patrons daily from the park into the Village center, to frequent our current businesses, and attract new ones. Second, I would work with the village to enact electronic case management, a key e-governing concept for tracking all inquiries to the village administrative offices, enabling transparency to the complainant, accountability from the respective village office, and efficiency in the addressing matters in the most timely manner, with the optimal use of resources.

4. What steps should the local government take to ensure that the quality of rental property meets minimum legal standards? (100 word limit)

Answer from Vince Weseli:
First and foremost, enforcement of the building codes is critical. Publicizing, via the Village website those properties in violation of the codes, with the names of the owners of the properties in question will help make the issue more of a focus for the community. Where necessary, council should invoke a "triage" plan for each of the properties, and establish clear metrics for action on each property. These metrics should be reviewed, along with the action plans at council committee meetings and/or full council if necessary.
