? 1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

Answer from Matt e (Novak) Miller-Novak:

Much of the responsibilities of a council president revolve around being a moderator of a council meeting. As a college instructor, I spend much of my professional career doing just that. I frequently oversee student debates over many heated issues, and I do so very effectively.

? 2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Answer from Matt e (Novak) Miller-Novak:

Because of the minimal amount of media coverage that smaller local city governments enjoy, many people are unaware of how their local governments are operating. It will be my personal mission to make sure that we make all government discussions available to as many people as humanly possible. I already have in place a website, blog, discussion form and email serve at changench.com that will be used just for that purpose. If you can`t make it to council, we will bring council to you.

? 3. What two actions would you promote to enhance city revenue or decrease city expenditures in order to balance the city budget, given the current economic conditions? (100 word limit)

Answer from Matt e (Novak) Miller-Novak:

If you are struggling to maintain your police numbers, and you presently have no paramedics in your city, you are in no position to spend hundreds of thousands of tax payer`s money on recreation. You must concentrate on what is necessary to invest in. I would make the needs of the people more important than the desires of the leaders. Consequently, investing in the safety of the city will create a better environment for new business that will enhance the economic strength of North College Hill.

? 4. What steps should the local government take to ensure that the quality of rental property meets minimum legal standards? (100 word limit)

Answer from Matt e (Novak) Miller-Novak:

First, local government needs to find problem landlords. Many landlords that are not caring for their properties are practically phantoms because local officials have yet to discover their identities. Our code enforcement officer should be given the task to compile a list of all the problem properties in North College Hill, and then the city must set out to discover the owner of every one of those properties and begin to enforce the ordinances already in place to motivate these property owners to do what is right.
