Smart Voter Full Biography for Marc A. Seedorf

Candidate for
Town Justice; Town of Lewisboro

This information is provided by the candidate

Marc, who is completing his third four-year term as Town Justice, brings to the bench an unbiased and open mind, patience, respect for the litigants-whether criminal or civil, and most importantly, his extensive experience as a Judge, former prosecutor and attorney in private practice.

A former trial prosecutor in the Bronx District Attorney's Major Offense Bureau, Marc protected the rights of victims of serious and violent crimes. As a partner in the law firm of Seedorf & Scheld, Marc has represented an array of civil litigants, domestic violence victims and criminal defendants, including juveniles, in the State, City, Family and local Town and Village Courts.

Marc holds a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Saint John's University. He is President of the Westchester County Magistrate's Association and is a member of the Westchester County Domestic Violence Council. Marc has lectured at the Office of Court Administration's continuing judicial training seminars and has been an Acting City Court Judge in Mount Vernon and White Plains.

Marc and his family have lived in Lewisboro for over twenty years. He is a member of the Lewisboro Lions Club and a past member of the John Jay High School Site Based Team, the South Salem Nursery School Board of Directors, and the Lewisboro Parks & Recreation Advisory Council. He has coached both soccer and baseball.

In recent years, as environmental abuse in our community and drug possession in our schools have grown in concern, Judge Seedorf evaluates each matter that appears before him on an individual basis. These are not `victimless' crimes; and while protecting the constitutional rights of the accused, he has been proactive by utilizing a combination of evaluation, probation, restitution and fines to achieve what is best for the individual as well as the community at large.
