Candidate StatementBy Tom Van GroningenCandidate for Director; Modesto Irrigation District; Division 3 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
CANDIDATE STATEMENT My experience as a member and current President of the Modesto Irrigation District Board of Directors, a businessman, former Chancellor of the local College District, and community volunteer will continue to serve the MID well as it provides reliable, competitively priced electricity and water to you its owners and customers. Born and raised on a farm in the San Joaquin Valley, I have an interest in, and great respect for, the proper use of our natural resources, particularly water, the electric energy it generates, crops it produces and recreation it provides. I am committed to conservation, cleaning up the air we breathe and delivering renewable green energy at competitive rates. Given the current economic downturn it is extremely important to continue to be fiscally responsible and manage the District's existing resources wisely while planning for an ever-challenging future. Our future demands that our water rights be protected and preserved and that our sources of electric energy be maintained and expanded as needed and mandated by State and Federal Governments. These are challenges and responsibilities that I look forward to accepting with integrity and commitment as your representative on the Board. I would appreciate your support and your vote. Thank you.
