To empower our kids to rise and thrive and to grow into positive and productive adults.I am excited to campaign for our Hillsborough City School District (HCSD) Governing Board. On August 20, 2009, I earned a physician leadership position at my medical center that allows me greater flexibility in my work schedule. As such, I am running to serve on the Hillsborough City School Board, and have been sworn in as a certified Write-In Candidate effective September 10, 2009. I need your help to vote for me on November 3rd 2009 Election Day by writing in my name on the ballot and inking in that corresponding box to support my candidacy. As a seasoned physician leader caring for patients since 1995, and as a mother of three (3) bright and well-rounded kids thriving in our outstanding HCSD schools since 2002, I have volunteered extensively in my kids' classrooms since their preschool years, to help shape young minds with healthy habits and to model leadership roles for our kids. My physician-husband/doting dad and I have served as assistant coach, and are currently/actively coaching on the Hillsborough AYSO soccer, to promote physical wellness and teamwork for our kids. I also have served as a class physician to two fourth-graders' (West Classes of 2008 & 2010) Yosemite Outdoors Education Weeks. And what was truly gratifying for me, personally, was when one of the fourth-graders got very sick, he chose me to care for him because he knew me from kindergarten days and trusted me to help him during his illness away from home. I am a big advocate for kids' wellness, and serving on the West School Wellness Committee with other energetic, talented and dedicated parents is fantastic to promote, for example, "Healthy Choices, Healthy Me!" at the West School Health Fair 2008. My vision to serve on the Hillsborough School Board is to further promote the education of the "whole child" in our strong and richly diverse community, to become critical, constructive and creative thinkers. My mission is to empower our kids with the vital skills to grow into happy, productive and positive adults.
