Mark Twain once said that "...out of the public school grows the greatness of a nation."

I agree, and that's what inspired me to run for the Sequoia Union High School District Board this November. As a strong public school supporter and advocate, I am committed to making our public schools the best they can be.

I believe EVERY STUDENT MATTERS! As a Trustee, you can expect me to:

  • Ensure efficient use of school funding, such as prioritizing the use of funds for the benefit of all students within the District and partnering with individual campus organizations to help fill in funding gaps so that important classroom programs are sustained

  • Provide education opportunities for all students, such as making the District's career technical education and Middle College programs more robust while retaining our first-rate college preparatory curriculum.

  • Improve academic performance by setting high expectations for all students, such as keeping focused on the District's stated goals to provide "strong instructional leadership, a safe and orderly climate, schoolwide emphasis on basic skills, high teacher expectations for student achievement, and continuous assessment of student progress."

I am prepared to serve on the Sequoia Union High School District Board of Trustees based on my:

  • Fifteen years of professional experience in financial research, analysis, and investment.

  • Ten years of hands-on involvement within our school community by raising funds, sustaining classroom programs, and working with community stakeholders to analyze issues affecting a whole school district.

  • Statewide work in economic development public policy to create jobs and sustain our industries in California.

  • Volunteer role as a citizen watchdog to ensure the highest level of integrity within our county government, including school districts within San Mateo County.

This election has been billed as "one of the hottest elections on the peninsula." Fortunately, my track record in public service has resulted in incredible support and endorsements from all the District's current board members who are endorsing, many elected leaders, and community leaders.

I am prepared to lead through challenging times and make the tough decisions to strengthen the Sequoia Union High School District. I believe every student matters and ask for your vote on November 3, 2009. It would be my honor to serve you!
