Ballot StatementBy Maria Diaz-SlocumCandidate for Board Member; Redwood City School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
This is the Ballot Statement that is included in the Sample Ballot mailed to all registered voters of the Redwood City School District.Respectfully, I ask for your vote. When first elected, I promised to improve academic achievement, strengthen public confidence in our schools, and increase parental involvement. I have kept those promises and significant progress has been made. But our schools and children face a new and serious threat. That threat is Sacramento! Right now politicians in the capitol are taking monies from schools in California in order to balance the state's budget. That money grab is wrong. What's worse is that it affects the quality of education for our students. Proven leadership, tested experience and strong voices are needed now so that we can guarantee that our schools get every penny they deserve. Every student has the right to a quality education. As such, our spending priority must be the classroom. Working together, we can make sure that happens and that all students are challenged to their full potential and move forward to excel academically. It has been an honor serving as a Redwood City School District Trustee and Board President. I will continue to listen and respond to your ideas and concerns. Learn more at my website http://www.caldia.com and please vote for Maria Diaz-Slocum on Election Day. Thank You! |
