Possibilities
Land use decisions need to address the immediate and future needs of the community. What ever we build (where ever) It needs to be sustainable In these difficult economic times, what we build/development needs to be able to provide enough revenue to support it's own infrastructure. We need to balance our wants against our needs. What I am hearing the community wants : open space, restoration, parks? What I'm hearing the community feels we need: Housing (all types),schools, Sport Parks, levy enhancements, flood control, open space, walking trails, biking paths. The plan submitted address all of that. How big that footprint is is on the discussion table. We the citizens of Redwood City, are in the drivers seat. We will lead this discussion. Not everyone can attend meetings, so let your voice be heard through writing, e-mailing, calling or mailing. The availability of water will be a key issue in any future development anywhere placed in our community. I truly believe that at the end of this very long process there will in fact be a "vote of the people" that will determine the decission of the Cargill site.
