Statement of DAN DYKWEL, Candidate for
Member, Palo Alto City Council

Occupation: Marketing Communications Consultant and Broker
Education and Qualifications:
B.A. Michigan State University; President of city-wide PTA Council; PAUSD facilities master plan committee; Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce board director; public safety building Blue Ribbon Task Force; Palo Alto Recreation Foundation board director.

Palo Alto needs a new vision in order to preserve its quality of life. As a 16-year resident, I am committed to helping Palo Alto meet the challenges of the current economy and the needs of its residents. I plan to focus on 1) Effective Use of Tight City Resources+ensuring all city departments strive towards maximizing economy and service; 2) Strategic Business Development Planning+promoting the health of Palo Alto businesses and creating policies to attract and retain businesses that will generate tax revenues that maintain high-quality city services; and 3) Overdue planning to tackle $400M+ infrastructure backlog.

As a parent and recent president of the PTA council, I will work to strengthen the partnership between our city and schools. I received the PTA Golden Oak award for exemplary service to the families and youth in our community and will use my leadership skills in business, schools and non-profits to effect change through the city council. http://www.dykwel.com
