Political Philosophy for Barry Chang
Candidate for |
I have two Core Values that drive my passions when working with the community: 1. The Health, Safety and Welfare of the community must be protected. Residents have a right to live in health and safety in this great community. For the city to do otherwise is irresponsible. 2. I believe we must protect the effectiveness, high standards and high standing of our great schools. That is why I was a Cupertino School Board member for 8 years. Many residents live here because of our great schools. Some say Cupertino is all about schools. (This is not a responsibility of the city so is not a high priority my campaign, though it is in my heart) Other values: Environment - I consider myself an environmentalist. I believe the city should go green and clean and use alternative sources of energy such as solar panels for powering public buildings. I also believe that the city should implement green building guidelines for all new construction. Fiscal Responsibility - I believe that City money should be spent as if it were your own. I exercised fiscal responsibility when on the Cupertino School Board. During these hard times we cannot depend upon State assistance so we must carefully control expenses and maintain a comfortable reserve. |
