Why Am I Running for the Position of MPC Trustee? My experience over the past three years, the last two as Vice Chairman of the MPC Citizens Bond Oversight Committee, has given me a unique perspective into MPC's operations and finances. As MPC continues the plan to upgrade its facilities and update its infrastructure, decisions will need to be made and priorities rearranged due to the State budget challenges. As a member of the Oversight Committee I am very aware of these challenges and as a Trustee I will work to see that the goals are accomplished.
I strongly believe in the transformative ability of a Community College to help train and retrain workers in this or any economy. To that end, the new Marina Education Center will be instrumental in the economic development of Marina in the years ahead. As a Trustee, I will take an active role coordinating these opportunities with the City of Marina to benefit our entire community.
It is certain that California's budget issues will be the focus of the Board for the next several years. I feel that my financial background will be an asset to the Board through these tough times. It is important that a Trustee balance the needs of the students and the community in these vital discussions. I feel that I have the ability and background to make the decisions necessary to keep this balance.
