As a young child growing up in El Monte, Edward "Eddie" Zuniga attended the local schools and graduated from El Monte High School in 1991. While attending college, he volunteered as a coach at El Monte High School and worked part time as a banker at Bank of America. Edward first became involved in his community by becoming part of the El Monte Sister Cities Organization and a volunteer for after school programs. Eddie is a graduate from California State University, Pomona, earning a bachelors degree in History and teaching credential in Social Science. Striving to continue his interests in the field of education, he received his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Azusa Pacific University. Eddie is presently employed with the El Monte Union High School District. He was hired as a social science teacher at his alma mater, El Monte High School in 1996. In 2002, Edward was promoted to Assistant Principal for Activities at South El Monte High School. After two years, he became the Assistant Principal of Student Services at Arroyo High School and then returned to South El Monte High School as the Assistant Principal for Instruction. Edward is stating his second year as principal at South El Monte High School, representing over 1,600 hundred students. Eddie has distinguished himself as an advocate for children, education, and the community at large. He is a member of the El Monte/South El Monte Rotary Club and a founding member of the El Monte Coalition of Latino Professionals. Edward has been honored most recently as the 49th Assembly District Latino of the Year in Community Involvement. |
